THE PROGRAM

S.W.E.A.T. will run approximately 1 ½ hours, workouts every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday for 6 weeks starting June 21, 2010. S.W.E.A.T. sessions meet in the Jefferson Sr. High School Gymnasium and include:

  • 45 minutes gymnasium work
  • 15 minutes core strength training
  • 30-40 minutes of weight lifting

S.W.E.A.T. is recommended for athletes who will be in 5th grade or higher during the 2010-2011 school year.

S.W.E.A.T. participants have the additional option of video injury assessment to evaluate their jumping mechanics. This data is used to determine a percent of injury risk to their lower extremities. Please see registration information if you would like to sign up for this option.

We also emphasize weekly educational topics ranging from nutrition, hydration, common knee injuries, footwear, goal setting/visualization and flexibility to enhance the overall health component of our program.

WHAT TO EXPECT

We will start at the scheduled time for each session so please arrive 10 minutes early and be ready when your session begins. Each session is about 1 ½ hours with very few breaks so come ready to work. We will meet in the gym at Jefferson High School unless otherwise instructed. The weight room is the last portion of the workout daily. If you do not finish your lifts within the session time you will be allowed to stay and complete them under supervision.

Pre-testing, Post-testing is optional this year. If you’d like to participate in the testing, please choose one of the pre-test dates and one of the post-test dates. You should allow yourself about 40 minutes to complete testing, 50 minutes if you are registered for the video analysis.

If you are unable to make the session you signed up for, just let your instructor know and we will do what we can to make accommodations to come to another session.
We try to provide a positive, quality experience for all of our athletes. Any disruptive behavior will not be tolerated and our staff will contact parents if any issues arise.
