Ashley Shaw completed her undergraduate athletic training education at the University of Minnesota-Duluth after which she obtained her board certification as an athletic trainer (A.T.C.).  She provided athletic training services for a vast amount of sports teams performing injury evaluation, rehabilitation, prevention, and emergent field care. She had an incredible opportunity to work with Olympic Women’s hockey athletes and the NCAA Division II National Football Champions. Ashley also volunteered her medical services at the nationally recognized Grandma’s Marathon for three years.  In addition to her athletic training background, Ashley was a member of the University of Minnesota Duluth softball team.

Ashley joined our staff in 2009 and provides athletic training services for Brandon-Evansville, and serves as a physician extender in the clinic.
At her schools, she encompasses prevention, assessment, and intervention of emergency, acute, and chronic medical conditions involving impairment, functional limitations and disabilities.

"High school athletes are the future of professional sports.  By keeping them healthy, I believe their goals and possibilities are endless.”

Ashley, as a physician extender, provides a vast array of services to patients after having surgery at Heartland Orthopedic Specialists. These services include suture/staple removal; wound inspection, assisting with medication refills, and helping answering patient’s questions. Along with post operative care, Ashley dispenses and fits patients with braces.  She fits each brace for a patient based on provider orders and brace capability.  This requires training on over 20 different braces and utilization of special tools to aid with proper fitting.

Ashley’s certifications include: Certified Athletic Trainer, and American Red Cross Professional Rescuer.

When she is not working, Ashley enjoys outdoor activities and spending time with family.  She also volunteers her time at the local animal shelter walking dogs.
