Andrea is a native of Alexandria and originally began her career in Athletic Training during a mentorship with Dr Brand while also shadowing in the high school athletic training room. She received her degree in Athletic Training from Gustavus Adolphus College in 2006. Other experiences during her undergraduate training included assisting with the SWEAT program in Alexandria, had an article published titled “The Relationship between age and the IKDC Knee Score” with Dr Brand, and completed an internship with Sports and Orthopaedic Specialists of Edina MN in the physician extender setting. The article published with Dr Brand was a poster presentation at the bi-annual ISAKOS meeting and presented at the Minnesota Orthopedic Association meeting. In 2006, Andrea joined Heartland Orthopedic Specialists as a Certified Athletic Trainer.

Andrea currently provides event coverage for Jefferson Senior High School; specifically the volleyball, girl’s hockey and boy’s hockey teams. She previously worked with the athletes of Brandon-Evansville High School. Andrea also attended the Titleist Golf Performance Institute and is a certified Golf Fitness instructor.

While in the clinic Andrea’s day to day roles include purchasing coordinator, scheduling of clinical staff, marketing, and the new building project. She also fills in as a physician extender, and orthopedic technician. As the Purchasing Coordinator she is responsible for ordering all supplies the clinic needs from needles and syringes to all the various braces to housekeeping supplies. As a Orthopedic Technician she takes care of casting, splinting, and bracing needs for the clinic along with post-operative appointments. As a physician extender she works with the various surgeon’s, ensuring all documentation of their clinical day is completed.

Andrea enjoys various outdoor activities and sports (especially hockey and golf) in her spare time. She also serves on the Minnesota Athletic Trainers Association Public Relations committee, is a board member for the Alexandria Cardinal Athletic Foundation and has coached girl’s hockey with the Alexandria Area Hockey Association for the past 3 years.

Andrea certifications include: Certified Athletic Trainer, Orthopedic Technician Certified, Titleist Performance Institute Certified- Golf Fitness Instructor, and American Red Cross Professional Rescuer

Her professional Memberships include:National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA),Great Lakes Athletic Trainers’ Association (GLATA),Minnesota Athletic Trainers’ Association (MATA),National Association Orthopedic Technologist (NAOT), and the American Academy Orthopaedic Executives (AAOE).
